ALICE, Texas — Jim Wells County held another COVID-19 vaccination clinic today in Alice.

The clinic was held at the Jim Wells County Fairgrounds this morning. It was organized by the Christus Spohn Health Systems and was coordinated by the county, the City of Alice, and staffed by several agencies and volunteers.

This was the fourth time the county has performed a vaccination clinic.

“This is something we're learning as we go, we're learning from other cities, and from ourselves,” said Patrick Thomas, emergency management coordinator for the City of Alice. “The more often we have these events the more we learn every time, so we try to improve it every time we do this. So we meet weekly after we meet before and we meet after the events."

For the first time, the county organized an express line for elderly patients in an effort to keep them from having to wait as long.

Jim Wells County has averaged 1,300 doses a week since it started the vaccination clinics.
