CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Texas Workforce Commission has received an unprecedented call volume as a result of COVID-19.
With so many Texans applying for unemployment, the TWC has expanded its hours of operation.
The telecenter hours are now Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The TWC broke down the number of claims made by each county.
The most recent numbers are claims for the week ending on March 28th.
Last year the TWC received 148 claims. The same time this year, 4,246.
