CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Texas State Aquarium has announced they will possibly reopen under Phase 2 during the week of May 18.

The aquarium has been temporarily closed to the public since March 18 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, aquarium workers have continued to care for its animals and hold virtual education programs while remaining closed to the public.

"The Phase 2 reopening date is dependent on the state reaching and maintaining certain safety protocols during the first phase, and Aquarium representatives said they are hopeful they can play their part in the safe and strategic reopening of the Lone Star State, while providing a place for families to explore the wonders of nature and make memories together," a prepared statement from the aquarium says.

If it opens, the Texas State Aquarium hours on the week of May 18 will be from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. daily, with the H-E-B Splash Park, Pepsi Shoreline Grill and Café Aqua also open from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Tickets for the Aquarium can be purchased onsite, or online at www.texasstateaquarium.org/tickets [clicks.aweber.com].
