TAFT, Texas — Finding food and toiletries has been hard for so many since the coronavirus pandemic began. But one Taft woman is making sure her community gets the supplies they need.
Lucy Naranjo noticed lots of people in her community were lacking items including toilet paper, wipes and food. One day, after waking up from a nap, she came up with the idea of setting up a table in her front yard with food and toiletries for those who needed them.
So, she and her husband bought some items and placed them on a table in front of her home on the 500 block of Wilburn Street for anyone in need.
She calls it her "Blessing Table" and posted photos of it on Facebook.
immediately, her post went viral and now lots of people are chipping in and donating items for her table that she sets out in the afternoon.
"We've had a lot of responses, a lot of positive responses. They just come by and drop them off, baby items, hygiene stuff, food, canned items, just about anything people can use," Naranjo said.
She hopes her table will inspire others to set up their own tables to help those in need.
