CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Padre Island National Seashore, in response to guidance from Nueces County, Kleberg County, and Willacy County, is announcing additional modifications to operations in the wake of the coronavirus.
As of 12 a.m. Friday, the seashore will offer very limited services outside those that support visitor or resource protection.
The following items will be suspended to comply with local rules:
· Yarborough Pass four-wheel drive road will be closed until further notice.
· No overnight camping.
Outdoor spaces at the seashore will remain accessible to the public in accordance with the latest federal, state and local health guidance. Entry fee will be waived for visitors.
The park will be changing its hours, opening between the hours of 6 a.m. and 8 p.m.
Services will be reduced at the park. Park officials are recommending that vistors continue to practice Leave No Trace rules. They also want park visitors to pack in and pack out to keep outdoor spaces safer and healthier.
