Nueces county has 89 confirmed COVID-19 cases

Nueces county reported 2 new cases Friday. That brings its total to 89.

Forty-six patients who have been affected have been men, while 43 have been women.

Two new tests were performed Friday, bring the total of people tested to 1,293.

San Patricio county’s reported one new case, which brings its total to 11.

Clara Rieder, Public Health Preparedness Manager said in a statement that the patient contracted the virus through travel or known-close contact. Their symptoms do not require hospitalization.

The county also reports three patients are newly recovered in addition to the one patient already recovered patient. It has carried out 96 tests.

Kleberg county has five cases, none of which are affiliated to Naval Air Station-Kingsville, the base clarified in a statement Friday.

NAS-Kingsville Commanding Officer Capt. E.A. Spitzer released a statement saying that while two base employees have been stricken with the virus, they are residents of Nueces county and had both been quarantined for a significant amount of time prior to their diagnoses and officials are "reasonably certain" no other employees were exposed.
