CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A local COVID-19 survivor was released from a local rehabilitation facility, and will end up celebrating his 40th wedding anniversary at home after all.

Raul Garza is currently recovering at home with his wife, Dora Garza.

"Words cannot express. I'm smiling from ear to ear under this mask," said Raul as he hugged his wife.

As we reported yesterday, the 64-year-old spent an entire month at Christus Spohn Shoreline Hospital battling the COVID-19 virus.

After being in a coma and on a ventilator for much of that time, he is wholeheartedly thankful to all his nurses, doctors, and hospital staff who helped him live.

His wife is also thankful.

"Just very emotional that he gets to go home and we can have him back at home." said Dora.

As we reported yesterday, Raul and Dora Garza will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary at the end of April.
