Kingsville ISD returns with in-person schooling

It's been a pretty big day in the Kingsville Independent School District.

Today was the first day of in-person schooling.

The district said 25 percent of Kingsville ISD students have returned to their schools.

The remaining students will continue distance learning.

Students who return to school are being asked to download a free self-screening app.

They'll have to use that app daily.

Once at school, students must observe social distancing and wear a mask and face shield.

“This provides an extra layer for the students to wear,” Kingsville ISD superintendent Dr. Cissy Reynolds-Perez said. “And so we believe, we're gonna encourage them to maybe decorate them to put some little stickers or something to kind of personalize them. And hopefully, that will make them feel a little bit better because this is all so new for them.”

The district has a target date of Oct. 26 for a full return to in-person learning.
