WASHINGTON, D.C. — Johnson & Johnson says the expiration date for its COVID-19 vaccine has been extended an extra six weeks after safety review.

The company says the FDA review has concluded the shots remain safe and effective for up to four and half months.

The extension gives states with unused doses of the vaccine and extra month and a half to use them before they go to waste.
