Jim Hogg County mandates masks to be worn in businesses

JIM HOGG COUNTY, TEXAS — After adding two more COVID-19 cases in Jim Hogg County, officials announced they are joining other counties in Texas to mandates masks to be worn in businesses.

In an announcement, posted on their Facebook page, states, "Jim Hogg County is joining Bexar, Hidalgo, Webb, and Brooks County with a new order requiring all Commercial/Retail Business Establishments in Jim Hogg County to develop and implement “Health and Safety Practices" that, at a minimum, requires all employees and customers to wear a mask that covers the nose and mouth while inside the business."

The statement continued, "Failure to abide by the Order could lead to fine of up to $1000."

The order was signed Thursday afternoon.

The new mandate goes into effect at 12:01 a.m. Saturday, June 20, 2020.
