CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — 2020 has been a bad year.
And perhaps the biggest kick in the can for Dr Pepper fans is that the bottlers of the popular soda have announced a nationwide lack of supply.
The beloved soda that was invented in Waco in 1885, and for more than a century was bottled in the Central Texas hamlet of Dublin, has been hard to find across the nation.
The company acknowledged it was facing a serious shortage earlier this week.
We know it’s harder to find Dr Pepper these days. We’re working on it – hang tight!

The shortage is explainable. USA Today reportsthat it can be traced to the aluminum can industry, which wasn’t prepared for the nationwide surge in demand for canned drinks after restaurants closed because of the pandemic.
The company told customers it is facing shortages in all flavors, and encourage them to contact local retailers for the most up-to-date availability.
On the list of product shortages, this might be a low priority, but to millions of fans across the nation – particularly those in Texans who have been weaned on the product since they were children – it’s been tough to swallow.
