CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A new county order will deem area golf courses, "non-essential," forcing closure.

Area golfers were taking one last swing this morning before a new amended stay-at-home order is signed by County Judge Barbara Canales.

That order would include golf courses as "non-essential" businesses and force them to close.

Earlier today, we found people hitting the fairway over at Gabe Lozano golf course on Old Brownsville Road. Our own Jeff Dubrof reported earlier pm April 5, that the course had been ramping up sanitation and following social distancing protocol in order to remain open.

The county's current stay-at-home order goes through April 30. At that point, golf courses could then re-open as long as no extension of that order is issued.
