With fears over the potential spread of COVID-19, thousands of schools across Texas are closed.
A new program, however, is helping young students learn to read online.
The Garcia Center for Arts and Education has launched a virtual literacy program on Facebook.
Tutors from Texas A&M-Corpus Christi take turns hosting reading sessions which are divided by age and reading levels from Pre-K to fifth grade.
The group said the program will continue for as long as students are out of school.
