FALFURRIAS, Texas — Officials in Brooks County and the city of Falfurrias confirmed the first COVID-19 case in the area.
The case was confirmed Monday afternoon.
No information about the patient has been released.
Officials encourage residents to stay safe.
"We urge citizens of Brooks County to diligently follow the recommendations and various orders for preventative measure which are proving effective in slowing the spread of COVID-19," says an official release from Brooks County Judge Eric Ramos. "Stay at home except for essential tasks, practice social distancing, and wear a mask when out in public."
