CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A Corpus Christi fire captain and six firefighters are self-monitoring due to possible exposure to the COVID-19 virus.

The exposure reportedly came from the captain's family member, according to a City of Corpus Christi news release.

Officials said they will make determinations regarding the next steps once the test results come back.

"The City of Corpus Christi is committed to ensuring the safety of first responders and will take necessary action to protect personnel, their families, and the community," said the city in the release.

This is a developing story.
