A fifth Nueces county patient died of COVID-19 related complications.
This patient is the second reported death in the county in less than a week.
Corpus Christi-Nueces Public Health District Asst. Health Director Dante Gonzalez confirmed the death early Thursday afternoon after city councilmen Ben Molina and John Marez posted reports to their Facebook pages.
The male patient was between the ages of 80-89, tested positive for COVID-19 and was hospitalized in mid-June.
He reportedly had several complicating factors, such as hypertension, diabetes and coronary artery disease.
