CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Congressman Michael Cloud is requesting additional medical personnel for hospitals here in Corpus Christi; as well as resource support from the federal government.
"We are continuing to work on keeping supply chains flowing when it comes to PPE and everything else that's necessary," said Cloud. "But what a real big need right now has been is medical personnel. And so that's been the concern because you have a bed, but if you don't have anyone to provide care for the person in that bed, then it really doesn't help you."
After speaking with local officials and hospital administrators here in the Coastal Bend, Cloud has decided to send a proposal to Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar for a federal medical station.
Cloud says it will help would alleviate the burden on local front line workers, as the number of cases and hospitalizations here continue to surge.
