CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Calallen Independent School District has released information about COVID-positive students at their schools for this week.
The district has not closed any schools because of COVID numbers. In the five schools in the district - three elementary, a middle school and a high school - Calallen has recorded three students and three faculty members as COVID-positive.
Here is the school-by-school breakdown.

Additionally, a contracted individual was on the Calallen High School campus who was reported as a positive case on campus.
"The health and safety of all students, staff, and the families in our community is the priority in Calallen ISD," Calallen ISD assistant superintendent Emily Lorenz said. "We have been working tirelessly to ensure that we have all of the resources and protocols in place to provide a safe and healthy learning environment for our students. We sanitize frequently, support regular hand washing and sanitizing, enforce masking, and social distance as much as possible, especially during lunches when masks are removed."
The district also conducts a thorough contract-tracing protocol with each positive test, Lorenz said.
"We have yet to identify a reported positive case that could be linked to a transmission in the school setting," she said. "We have been very forthcoming with families when a close contact has been identified, and families communicate directly with nursing staff so that they may ask questions and be provided accurate health information."
