Cole Park is a hotspot for many families to gather and spend some quality time with each other outdoors.

However, the Cole Park Pier can be seen as a major component of the park. For almost three years the pier has been closed to visitors yet the City of Corpus Christi had displayed renderings of what the new Cole Park could look like.

Before engineers can continue with designs, city leaders are asking for community feedback.

Many residents have their reasons for why they like coming to visit the Cole Park Pier and the city says they hear your concerns.

“It is such a community anchor, that there was an outcry to fix that pier,” says Assistant City Manager Keith Selman.

If you are able to visit the city’s website you will be able to see what the new Cole Park Pier could look like.

“I think some more lighting, shade,” says Cole Park visitor Terrie Coleman.

Our KRIS 6 new team spoke to a few visitors who say they enjoy the views the pier provides and how the pier is a great spot for fishing.

“And it’s a good place too for kids to be able to learn how to fish it’s a safe place and it’s a good family, it’s a lot of family fun,” says Coleman.

City leaders say all comments are welcomed.

“But we want additional input on this renderings we have out there and the reason is, is because this location and this pier and this park is very much the heart of our community it’s heavily used has been for decades and should be for decades to come and we want to get it right,” says Selman.

The city says they anticipate having the new Cole Park Pier completed the summer of 2021.
