The Hooks got a big win to start their series against the Amarillo Sod Poodles as things are getting close in the Texas League South standings as we near the end of the first half of the season.

With injuries plaguing the Astros, call-ups are shaking up the foundation of rosters throughout the entire organization. Plenty of players have been called up to Round Rock and just the other day, the Hooks received a much-needed round of call-ups to their squad. They pulled out a win last night and now these new faces are looking to make name for themselves in Double-A.

“It definitely is a learning curve,” pitcher Layne Henderson said. “You are trying switch it on the fly. You are meeting new people. Everyone seems to be welcoming to everyone. It is really nice and it makes it nice for people like us.

“We’re just trying to help when you can help the ball club anyway you can. You are here for a reason and just try to play ball.”
