Imagine not being able to drink the water in your own home and having to depend on water bottles.
That was the reality for many residents over at Cindy Park and the Ranch Colonias near Bluntzer.
Some residents in this area have been waiting for fresh water for 40 years.
But now the wait is over.
And that is thanks to Nueces County along with multiple agencies working side by side on a project that would provide clean drinking water to folks in that area.
This project took about 10 years in the making.
A ceremony was held today to celebrate that about 206 residents now have fresh water flowing in their homes.
“Now that the water is cooler, it’s drinkable and it’s more refreshing because we’re able to drink it,” said local resident Diana Moreno, who enjoys the clean water.
Work began on this project after tests found high concentrations of contaminants in wells that provided residents their water.
