Memorial Day weekend is the traditional start of the South Texas beach season.
But before you hit the sand and surf, you need to double-check the type of sunscreen you’re using.
A new report says many of those products don’t provide enough protection.
And as alarming as that sounds, that’s not the only problem.
The environmental working group reviewed 1,300 sunscreen products and found some contain ingredients that may be harmful to your health.
Additionally, scientists are saying sunscreens with bigger SPF amounts have not been clinically proven to be better.
In fact, it just provides people a false sense of security of how long they can go without reapplying.
