Local blood bank in dire need of fresh supplies

Do you have 20 to 30 minutes to spare?

If so, the Coastal Bend Blood Center needs your help.

Currently, the shelves at the blood center are bare.

The month of May is the hardest time for collections.

High school students account for 30 percent of all donors. And as they get out of school, they’re less likely to donate during the summer.

And with Memorial Day weekend near, all blood types are needed.

“We are, the blood center is the sole provider of blood supply for our local hospitals so please keep that in mind,” said Ashley Ramirez of the Coastal Bend Blood Center. “Without our amazing caring donors in our community, we would not be able to save lives here in the Coastal Bend.”

The blood center is especially in need of Type O blood.

To donate, you can go visit any one of their bloodmobiles which are out seven days a week.
