The City of Corpus Christi has decided to extend its grace period for residents who have past due utility accounts.
The city initially decided to give residents until the end of this month to pay off their accounts before sending out disconnection notices in June. During today’s council meeting, Corpus Christi Interim Information Technology Director Peter Collins announced that the city has decided to push the deadline to June 30.
Collins said the city will give customers with delinquent accounts an extra month to call the city and discuss different payment options.
“The city recognizes every situation is different and we’ll take that into consideration,” Collins said.
He then announced disconnection notices will go out the first week on July.
