A day in court for a Port Aransas chef who was known for serving free meals in the wake of Hurricane Harvey.

Billy Joe Wilson was recently indicted on two counts of theft.

His arraignment was held this morning, but the judge wants Wilson back in court next week.

His attorney wasn’t present. So Judge Missy Medary told Wilson to return with his attorney for a follow-up hearing.

The charges stem from Wilson’s time with a Port Aransas restaurant named “Eats.”

In a Facebook post, Willson says he’s innocent and calls this an attempt by a former business partner to ruin his reputation and *new business.”

If convicted, Wilson faces up to four years in prison.
