Just as you would expect, the weather has played a major role in today’s high school baseball and softball playoff schedule with sites being switched around for many of the games.

Game 1 of the Carroll-Flour Bluff softball regional quarterfinal series was switched from Flour Bluff to the Portland Sports Complex.

They have AstroTurf there and it’s a beautiful place to play.

In the top of the second, the Hornets got their offense going.

Sophie Campbell with a solid base hit up the middle in this matchup of district champions.

Sidney DeLeon follows with a base hit of her own, putting runners at first and second.

But the Tigers get out of the jam with some nice defense.

It was pretty much a pitchers’ duel early on between the Tigers’ Vanessa Quiroga and the Hornets’ Jadyn Wilson.

It stayed scoreless until the sixth inning when Flour Bluff finally found a way to score claiming a 2-0 triumph.

Game 2 will resume tomorrow at Cabaniss Field starting at 1 p.m.
