This has been a record-breaking year for Texas A&M-Kingsville’s softball team, capped so far by winning the Lone Star Conference tournament over the weekend.

Today the Hogs were selected as the No. 1 seed in the NCAA Division II South Central Regional Tournament.

And the news gets better. They will host the tournament starting Thursday on campus.

They will open up against No. 8 seed Oklahoma Christian at 6 p.m.

This will be the Hogs’ first tournament appearance since 2007.

What a year it has been so far. Winning the LSC title, going 43-8 overall and currently riding a 10-game winning streak.

They are certainly currently rolling right along. We wish the ladies the best of luck.

And speaking of the Javelinas …

The baseball team has earned the No. 3 seed in the upcoming Lone Star Conference post-season championship with a series sweep of Eastern New Mexico on Sunday.

The Javelinas finish the regular season at 29-19 overall and 13-11 in LSC play.

So now, they will turn their attention to the post-season tourney, playing Tarleton State in the opening round Friday in Canyon.

We wish them the best of luck as well.
