Sunday night’s “Game of Thrones” episode featured a surprising detail that seemingly was anachronistic for the fictional continents of Westeros and Essos where it is set.
Close watchers could notice a styrofoam coffee cup seemingly left on a table during a feast scene by mistake.
Of course, the scene touched off a firestorm on social media.

They really took 2 years to make 6 episodes and left a Starbucks cup in a scene #GameofThrones pic.twitter.com/90Li696AmM

Though many people online have referred to the cup as Starbucks brand, the logo on the cup’s side is not identifiable as belonging to any one distinct company.
And it shows how “Game of Thrones” has taken over our Sunday nights when such a minute detail provides such Twitter fodder for so many people.
