A big change will be coming to all Texas public schools this fall.
Cursive writing classes will be re-introduced in elementary school after not being a requirement for years.
The State Board of Education made the change in 2017. But the requirement to learn cursive won’t be implemented until this fall.
So next school year, all second-grade students will be required to start learning how to write cursive letters.
And students must know how to write legibly in cursive by the fifth grade.
It will be a challenge for some, but others believe it’s necessary.
Today, we’ll speak to some students about reintroducing cursive in the classrooms.
That full story will appear this evening on KRIS 6 News.
