Hooks describe their grueling lifestyle as something to embrace

The Hooks continue their road trip in Amarillo tonight for Game 2 of their three-game set against the Sod Poodles.

It’s been a week of travel for the Hooks going back and forth from the Panhandle twice this week.

The Hooks fell to the Sod Poodles last night late and will get another crack at them tonight.

But once again, they hit the road for another long road trip. It’s one of the staples of minor league baseball.

Long bus rides to different corners of the country and then it’s back on the bus to play their next set of games.

Hooks outfielder Ronnie Dawson described what the grueling lifestyle is like.

“It’s part of the grind,” Dawson said. “We embrace it each and every day.

“You know we know it’s part of it, but we love it. That’s why we play the game. Because with good comes bad. You are getting to play baseball and you’ve gotta grind sometimes. I wouldn’t want to do anything else.”

The Hooks and Sod Poodles will play Game 2 tonight at 7:05 p.m.
