Could legalized hemp become a cash crop in South Texas?

Hemp production is gaining support across the state, and ever here in South Texas.

But is it legal and viable in our area?

Hemp can be used for food, clothing, lotions or oils.

And production for these type of products currently is not legal in Texas. But it is legal on the federal level.

The 2018 Farm Bill removed industrial hemp from the list of controlled substances.

That means states have the option to develop in their legislature. With plans to regulate hemp production.

But in Texas, growing the crop remains illegal until lawmakers approve legislation.

So what are local experts saying about the viability of hemp production locally?
