Texas Tech is in a familiar position for the Red Raiders’ Final Four game Saturday against Michigan State.

The website VegasInsider.com lists the Red Raiders as a 3-point underdog against the Spartans in Saturday’s second game at Minneapolis. Tip-off is scheduled at 7:49 p.m. (CT)

The third-seeded Red Raiders also were underdogs in their last two games in the tournament. Coach Chris Beard’s team notched upsets in the West Regional against No. 2 seed Michigan and No. 1 seed Gonzaga.

In Saturday’s late game, Virginia is listed as a 5½-point favorite over Auburn.

Tech is gunning to become the first Texas team to claim the national men’s basketball championship. UTEP, then known as Texas Western University, claimed the state’s other national hoop title in 1966.

Tech is the first Texas school to make a Final Four since Texas in 2003.
