It was “Awards Day” today at the Corpus Christi Police Department.

The department handed out several honors. One of the more notable was “Officer of the Year,” which was earned by 3-year veteran Dominic Knab. He also is a Coast Guard Reservist.

Knab was humbled by the honor, but tells us it really is a team effort.

“I wouldn’t say I’m the best officer at all,” Knab said. “There are a lot of officers that are very good. It’s just an honor to be nominated and recognized for a lot of the hard work I’ve done in the past year. I couldn’t have done it without everybody else working there right next to me.”

Other awards that were presented included Senior Officer Crystal Bustamante winning Investigator of the Year and Lieutenant Philip Bintliff as Supervisor of the Year.

The department also promoted senior officer Paulo Hernandez to the rank of lieutenant.
