Call it a case of being in the right place and at the right time. This after an alleged armed robber was arrested seconds after robbing a convenience store clerk.

The incident happened at a convenience store located near the intersection of Staples Street and Annapolis Drive on Saturday night.

Captain James Lerma, with the Corpus Christi police department, said an officer was doing routine checks around 9:45 p.m. Saturday, when a store clerk walked outside of a store and told the officer she was just robbed.

Other officers arrived at the scene and found the suspect, identified as 29-year-old Bruce Guadalupe Gonzales, across the street near a small shopping plaza.

The suspect was quickly handcuffed, identified, and arrested. Police say Gonzales faces charges of aggravated robbery.

He was booked into the Nueces County Jail early Sunday morning. His bond was set at $75,000.
