A bingo game at a Canadian nursing home turned ugly earlier this week when an argument between two elderly women over a vacant seat escalated into what authorities called a “physical altercation.”
The altercation took place at a long-term care facility in Rideau Lakes, Ontario, slightly north of the American border.

The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation reports that the two women — aged 79 and 86 — apparently wanted to sit in the same seat. Tempers flared as neither would relinquish their demands. Other residents became involved, turning the situation into what was termed a brawl.
Officials said no one appeared to be seriously injured. There were no charges filed, officials told CBC.
“It was certainly a rare call for us,” police spokeswoman Sandra Barr said. She added that she was not able to clarify whether or not bingo was finally played after the argument simmered down.
