Reports indicate that the Driscoll police pursued the suspect in the area on FM 2826 between Robstown and Driscoll before his arrest.

According to Driscoll Police Chief Mike Cantu, the tractor driver rear-ended a vehicle in Bishop about 8:30 a.m.

When a patrol officer attempted to detain him at a convenience store, the suspect argued with the officer, jumped on his John Deere tractor and attempted to flee along Highway 77.

He took off on the tractor with the officer holding on.

The chase eventually spread to a field off FM 2826, just south of Robstown.

After pursuit of about an hour, the suspect was arrested.

The officer who jumped on the vehicle with the suspect injured his shoulder, police said.

Cantu says the suspect will be charged with aggravated assault of a peace officer.

We’ll have more information on this developing story as we learn it.
