Former U.S. Rep. Blake Farenthold earned a dubious distinction in this month’s Texas Monthly annual “Bum Steer” awards.
Farenthold left office last April from the Texas 27th Congressional District after reports he used public funds to settle a sexual harassment lawsuit and created a hostile work environment for women in his congressional office.
The magazine went into excruciating detail about a photograph of Farenthold wearing a onesie while posing with lingerie-clad woman at a costume party that went viral.
Farenthold finished second behind Dallas radio talk show host Alex Jones of “Infowars,” known for his conspiracy-tinged rants on a variety of subjects.
Former Corpus Christi city council candidate Eric Tunchez also received mention for his celebrated cake-eating incident at former councilwoman Lucy Rubio’s final meeting. Tunchez was caught taking a slice of Rubio’s goodbye cake before it was presented and then smearing the icing that spelled out her name.
Two days later, Tunchez was indicted in a felony-of-prostitution case and then finished second in his election, beating only the deceased Roland Gaona.
