Corpus Christi motorists can expect continued construction in the Six Points area.

Workers began demolishing the Regional Transit Authority’s bus station on Wednesday removing pillars, roofing and signs.

RTA administrators decided to do away with the station because of safety concerns.

They say there was not enough room for their buses and the area is unsafe for pedestrians to walk to and from the bus stop.

RTA instructed the demolition crew to leave the benches and trees. RTA will also give the space back to the city.

Local business Price’s Chef has been in the heart of Six Points for decades.

Store manager Alex Guerrero says he has seen a decline in customers recently.

“You know the worst part is that we don’t know when it’s going to happen,” Guerrero said. “One day we come and this road is closed. Onee day we come (and) both roads are closed,”

Six Points merchants say the demolition activity in the area is not helping customers come inside their building to their businesses.
