Memorial Middle School in Kingsville reported no other incidents after the school was placed in lockdown Tuesday after a high school student allegedly brought a weapon onto the campus.

“The safety of our students is of utmost importance and this is why you are receiving the message,” a Facebook message sent to parents from the district said. “Police were called and the campus was put into lockdown. Once the suspect was apprehended, Memorial Middle School students were dismissed.

“Again, we want to reassure you that the safety of our students was never in danger.”

Kingsville ISD superintendent Bera Elida told KRIS-TV the incident occurred late in the school day.

“It was all addressed immediately,” she said. “The high school student was searched and nothing was found in their backpack. He was arrested for trespassing.”
