A Rockport family received a huge lift from the Coastal Bend Disaster Recovery Group, who helped them rebuild their home after it was destroyed by Hurricane Harvey.

The Mullenax family’s home was built in 1972 by their father, who passed away in 2017 shortly after Harvey destroyed their home.

“Our father was a very much the same way,” his daughter Dawn Mullenax said. “He was a very giving man and he did a lot for other people so it’s refreshing to us to see other people come together on behalf of our mother.”  daughter Dawn Mullenax says.

The Coastal Bend Disaster Recovery group teamed up with the Mennonite Disaster Services for the help.

“People that are strangers come and they offer because that’s what they’re called to do,” says the Rev. Beth Tatum, president of the Coastal Bend Disaster Recovery Group.

These church members came from Pennsylvania and Ohio, volunteering their services for families they do not even know.
