Former Corpus Christi Police Department Lieutenant John Chris Hooper was sworn in Thursday morning as Nueces County Sheriff.
He replaces retired Sheriff Jim Kaelin whose last day was Wednesday, October 31st.
Hooper will serve out the remainder of Kaelin’s term which ends in 2020.
“When I leave, whenever I leave this office, I will leave it in a better place than how I found it, and that’s my pledge to you,” Hooper said.
He has 37 years of law enforcement experience, primarily with CCPD.
