Defense to present case in Davila capital murder trial

Posted

The capital murder trial of David Davila will continue this morning. Davila is accused of shooting and killing 13-year-old Alex Torres in Jan. 2015 at the Treyway Apartments.

Jurors have heard testimony presented by the state since last week. The state rested its case yesterday.

The defense will begin to present their case today in court.

Investigators say that Davila went to the Treyway Apartments looking to shoot his ex-girlfriend and shot Torres by mistake when he opened the front door of his apartment.

The accused getaway driver in the crime, Christina Trevino, pleaded guilty to retaliation. She could face up to 20 years.

Davila faces up to life in prison if found guilty.
