Two teens hospitalized after head-on collision with 18-wheeler

Two teenagers were taken to the hospital with serious injuries after a head-on crash with an 18-wheeler.The accident happened just after 8:30 a.m. on Northwest Boulevard and Riverview Drive. Capt. Russell Sherman with the Corpus Christi Police Department said the driver of the Mustang, an 18-year-old male, drifted into oncoming traffic and struck a fuel truck. The 18-year-old and his 17-year-old female passenger were rushed to Spohn Shoreline with serious injuries. Witnesses told police that the Mustang was speeding before entering city limits, but officers say they have no indication that the Mustang was speeding when the accident occurred. The investigation is ongoing.The truck driver is expected to be okay. Northwest Boulevard at Riverview is closed in both directions while authorities continue to investigate the accident. A crew is headed to the scene to clean up fuel spilled by the truck.
