The body that was pulled from the Nueces River on Monday has been identified as 40-year-old Arturo Torres Jr. by the Nueces County Medical Examiner.
Rescue crews responded to a report of a man that was missing after slipping and falling off of a train trestle while drinking with a group of friends, according to investigators. Authorities say the man slipped while trying to climb to a lower level of the trestle. Witnesses say Torres may have hit his head on the way down.
Rescue crews found his body in the river a few hours later.
An official cause of death has not been released. The investigation is ongoing.
