The sale of the historic 1914 Nueces County Courthouse will be finalized today.

The old courthouse is being sold to an Ohio-based group called the Nueces County Development Partners LLC. The group will pay the county $1.5 million in back taxes.

The group wants to turn the building into an upscale 200-room hotel.

The public is invited to attend the signing of the closing documents at 10 a.m. on Thursday in the Judge James E. Klager Central Jury Room of the Nueces County Courthouse.
