At least 20 students are getting help paying for college thanks to the Buccaneer Commission. They’ll be getting part of a 62,000 scholarship awarded by the Buc Commission to high school seniors each year.

One-hundred students applied for a scholarship this year. The students have all taken part in the Buc Days leadership program and learned about their community.

Nathan Zabel, an Ingleside high school student, says,"My favorite project was probably the food bank (project) because it hit home whenever, and we lost a lot of things happening after Hurricane Harvey.

"The food bank really helped out in my area in Ingleside, so it felt nice to give back to the community and help out again," Zabel says.

The students who won scholarships this year will be in the Buc Day’s parade.
