It was a close call for a southside homeowner as a fire was slowly reaching her home.
The fire broke out along a fence line between two homes in the 3600 block of Thornberry Court off of Carroll Lane.
According to a witness, he saw smoke as he was coming home from HEB and noticed a couch on fire. The flames grew when a fence caught fire.
The witness said it took firefighters about five minutes to arrive at the scene and they put out the flames.
Firefighters say a cigarette could have started the fire, but they were still not sure how the couch caught flames.
