Two vehicle stops resulted in South Texas Border Patrol agents seizing more than 2,200 pound of marijuana this weekend.

According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, in the early morning hours of Friday, March 30, a Border Patrol K9 at the Falfurrias Checkpoint, alerted agents to a tractor-trailer driven by a U.S. citizen.

The vehicle was referred to the secondary inspection area where agents opened the trailer and found 47 bundles of marijuana mixed with the truck’s cargo.

CBP says the marijuana weighed more than 1,300 pounds and had an estimated street value of more than $1 million.

On Sunday, April 1, Rio Grande City agents spotted a white Toyota Sequoia leaving the river area near La Rosita, Texas at a high rate of speed.

CBP says as agents responded, they saw the vehicle turn around and head back toward the Rio Grande. Agents located the vehicle abandoned with 11 bundles and 7 bricks of marijuana inside.

CBP says the marijuana weighed nearly 900 pounds and had an estimated value of $709,000.

The marijuana will be turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
