What started as a panicked Facebook post has taken on "War of the Worlds" proportions.

It has to do with the government using an electromagnetic pulse to shut down the power grid as part of a test.

And, since the story has spread and many KRIS-6 viewers are asking, we’ve put our Fact Check Team on it.

Fact or Fiction: Is the government going to shut down the power grid due to an EMP test?

The Verdict: No. The government will not be causing any blackouts for any upcoming tests.

Turns out, this is false.  The government is not going to shut down the grid.

According to the U.S. Army Network Command, or, "NETCOM,", they are going to simulate a blackout as part of a multi-day test of the communications network linking the Army, the Department of Defense and the Military Auxiliary Radio System.
