KRIS 6 NEWS has received a copy of an arrest affidavit of Joseph Matthew Tejeda, who is accused of killing Breanna Wood.
The arrest affidavit states, 26-year-old Joseph Tejeda allegedly killed Breanna Wood sometime between October 11th and October 15th, 2016. It said that Tejeda intentionally committed the offense of murder by shooting victim Breanna in the back of her head, causing her death at his apartment at 800 Block of Hancock Avenue in Corpus Christi.
Breanna’s mom, Fallon Wood filed a missing person report on October 18th, 2016 to the Corpus Christi Police Department where she said her daughter was missing and that she had not heard from her daughter last time she had messaged her back on October 11th, 2016.
On January 2nd, 2017, a Nueces County Jail supervisor was told a Nueces County inmate had information about Breanna Wood, and he can take them to her body.
Corpus Christi Detectives met with the inmate later and had the prisoner bring them to a location off of State Highway 666 and State Highway 1833. Detectives discovered a deserted farm house and an abandoned oil field trailer and found a box covered with a white sheet.
The Nueces County Medical Examiner’s office was called out, and investigators discovered Breanna’s body in the box, wrapped in thick plastic. Her remains were transported to the Nueces County Medical examiner’s office for examination.
The next day, Detectives were told another inmate had information surrounding the death of Breanna Wood. The prisoner told Detectives that Tejeda had confided to him that he had killed Breanna Woods and abused Wood’s corpse. The inmate also added her body wouldn’t be found.
The medical examiner’s office said Wood’s autopsy found the Breanna was shot in the back of her head and had injuries consistent to what the second inmate told Detectives.
Forensic investigators added Woods might have died from October 11th, 2016 to October 18th, 2016.
Joseph Matthew Tejeda is behind bars and at the Nueces County Jail and is charged with murder. His bond has been set at 1 million dollars.
